WPO NEWSLETTER
OCTOBER 2026
Last year ended on a high note with a great concert in St Alban’s Church. It was a delight to play with the young dancers from Westbury Park Dance School. October has come already and we have a new year of music making ahead.
We have planned three concerts during the year:
-
14th December - Xmas Carols and music at St Monica’s with mince pies and mulled wine afterward
-
6th February 12th June tbc - Spring concert at St Peter’s Church. Theme Spring/Love
-
Summer concert. Venue yet to be decided. Theme ‘Out of this World’
Please add these dates to your diaries.
Joe and I have chosen some interesting music for this year. The February concert is themed Spring/Love and the June concert is themed “Out of this World”. We also have a Beethoven anniversary this year. You should already have received quite a lot of music for February concert. Here is a list of the pieces we planned:

-
Grieg Maurice Jarre Vivaldi

We would also like some groups to play in the February concert.
Julie will continue to send out information about pieces for the next rehearsal every Monday evening to give you plenty of time to practice.
Robert has sent out information about the 2026-27 subs.
The AGM was held on Monday 5th October aftertherehearsal. Many thanks to
John for keeping the orchestra running for 8 (?) years and he’s still prepared to
help!

I hope we will have a lovely year of music-making which we can share with our friends and family in our concerts.
